How to play it and where it comes from

1990s French touch (Daft Punk, Cassius, Stardust, Modjo): looped disco samples, low-pass filtered with automation, "pumping" compression with exaggerated sidechain across the whole mix. Electrified disco drums: kick on the quarter notes, snare + clap on 2 and 4, closed hats in sixteenths and open on the offbeat, tambourine on the offbeat. Light swing (10). The identity is the filter that opens slowly over 8–16 bars and the loop that "breathes." Variants: kick that enters only after a filter sweep, phaser on the cymbals, vocoder.
