How to play it and where it comes from

Teddy Riley's groove (Bobby Brown, Guy, Michael Jackson's "Remember the Time"): TR-808/SP-1200 with very marked swing on the sixteenths (50, almost a triplet). Huge, dry snare and clap on 2 and 4, syncopated, "hopping" kick reminiscent of go-go and hip hop. The swung sixteenth-note hi-hats are the engine; tambourine on the offbeat. Variants: triplet snare rolls before the chorus, orchestra-hit stabs, kick doubling the slap bass.
