How to play it and where it comes from

Riddim (a dubstep subgenre, Croydon, early 2010s, exploded from 2015; Subfiltronik, Bukez Finezt, 50 Carrot) at 140–150 BPM felt in half time: snare + clap on 3 of every bar, kick on 1 and on a few connecting points. The 808 lane here represents the hits of the main bass (square wave with LFO, repetitive): a 3+3+2 sixteenth-note cell (tresillo) that approximates the genre's triplet-like, swaying feel; in real tracks a triplet grid or an LFO synced to 1/8T or 1/16T is often used. Repetition is the point: the same bass cell for 4–8 bars, with minimal filter or note variations. Variants: triplet percussion on the hats, double kick before the snare, a one-beat "stop" with only the snare reverb, melodic riddim with kick + clap and pads.
