How to play it and where it comes from
Big room house (2012–2016: Hardwell, Martin Garrix's "Animals", Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike) at 126–130, standard 128: enormous, long kick on the quarter notes, layered clap and snare on 2 and 4, open hat on the offbeat, crash at the start of the phrase. The drop is almost only kick + percussive lead + tribal toms; the build has an accelerating snare roll and a "pitch riser." Variants: drop with clap only on 2, sixteenth-note tribal toms, kick cut on the last beat before the drop.
