How to play it and where it comes from
Bassline (Sheffield, Niche club, mid-2000s) and speed garage / 4x4 garage: kick on the quarter notes at 135–142 BPM, snare on 2 and 4, open hat on the offbeat, closed hats and shaker in sixteenths with a light swing (here 20, about 55–56%) inherited from garage. The syncopated rims (sixteenths 4, 11, 14) act as a "skip" and push toward the snare. The bass is the star: short notes in eighths and sixteenths, often offbeat against the kick, with wobble or reese and organ ("organ mix") in the club versions. Variants: double kick on the 16th sixteenth before the turnaround, speed garage snare rolls in sixteenths before the drop, reverse cymbal on bar 8, a 2-bar break with just bass and sped-up vocals.
